Bream Bay Realty Ltd was originally formed in February 2002 by Alan Sheddan whose real estate career began in Auckland in 1969. As an AREINZ he also holds the Nat Dip R.E. and is a licensed auctioneer.

Alan is often asked, why did you start a Real Estate Company in such an area? The answer always comes automatically. Having spent considerable time at Mt Maunganui and Tauranga in his youth he realized what growth a "log port" produces for an area.

"The port was not at Bream Bay in 2002 but we all knew it would come. Northlands "wall of wood" had to be moved and Auckland was too far away. The other similarity to the Tauranga, Mt Maunganui area was that Bream Bay has a great harbour and miles of clean surf beach and flat land for ease of future development".

Residential development is strong with major subdivisions underway and about to start, including a Marina/Waterways complex and a housing estate developed around a private golf course. Growth in the commercial area is steadily gaining momentum.

The area is an amazing place to live. It offers the best of natures attractions and is only 90 mins North of the Auckland Harbour Bridge on the eastern seaboard.

The Company started with one salesperson in 2002 from a "small" office at Ruakaka. It has now opened its second office in Waipu. Both offices are in high profile locations with large window displays and a sales team of twelve.

The Waipu Office which is situated in the town centre of Waipu, is jointly owned and managed by Judy Guy.

The name Bream Bay was chosen to promote what we believe to be Northland's growth area. It was named by Captain James Cook in November 1769 due to the abundance of "sea bream" his crew caught in the area.

Our friendly professional team, have over 75 years combined experience. We all work live and play in the area so we know it well. We are 100% local and proud to promote this exciting area. If you are in our area call in, we would love to tell you more about this undiscovered gem.
